John Pickrell to Retire AGAIN
The Synod of the Pacific along with Boise Presbytery, thanks John Pickrell for his many years of service. John will be retiring for the second time, March 31st. This time he will be leaving from the position of Regional Presbyter for Boise Presbytery.
John originally grew up on the West coast; he attended San Francisco Theological Seminary and while a student worked as a part time chaplain to the community that operated Alcatraz Federal Prison.
John has served churches from Hayward , California , to Skene , Scotland . He served eight years as Chaplain of the Idaho House of Representatives. His last pastoral days were served in Adrian , Oregon , and Homedale , Idaho . In 1998, John accepted the part time position of Regional Presbyter for Boise Presbytery.
John has been married to his wife Kathryn (Kay) for 24 years and they have two children and eleven grandchildren.
When I asked John what his plans were for his retirement, his response was," I don't intend to slow down on those subjects that are favorites of mine -
woodworking, teaching, singing and playing the guitar, leading tours through the Idaho State Capital building, lecturing on government, architecture and land surveying, and spending time with my family".
We wish John a wonderful retirement and thank him for his dedicated service.
Until we meet again . . . . |
